At the start of this section you have a 10 kms ride on flat terrain, the next 15kms is a combination of winding hills to gentle elevation and flat terrain. In 2011 the Tuki Tuki Road had a huge makeover, realigning and widening - especially to keep cyclist safe.

Soak up the stunning panoramic views overlooking the Tuki Tuki River, Te Mata Peak and surrounding countryside.

Landscape Ride - Trail 832: Ohiti Valley Panoramic Loop

Flat terrain, gentle elevation and rolling hills. Adults cycle the loop 47.8kms - Families shorter route 31kms.

Entire trail 62.6kms to & from Napier.

This is my favourite Trail: Coach drop of at (88) Ohiti Road: Cycling through this picturesque valley floor, is a sight to behold, passing by rocky outcrops and farming flats. As you navigate every bend the valley unfolds its secrets with ever-changing panoramic vistas. A little way along the valley floor widens to a multitude of immaculate vineyards sheltered by the rolling hills and the high river stock bank on your left.

Detour: must be booked in advance: On Track Adventures. (Tirohia) My first visit to this 4th generation farming property with the vision of including it in the cycle trails - I was in awe of the panoramic vista that just got better the higher up I went, the spectacular, stunning views include the vineyards in the Ohiti Valley you cycled through, Te Mata Peak in the distance, Ngaruroro River below and surrounding countryside and the backdrop of the high mountains. Morning tea on arrival: Option One: (Walking) Panoramic Vista & History Tour: Per person: $60 Child $50:  Option Two: Quad bike tour. (16 years plus) Per person:1 to 1 1/2 hours $110 - 2 to 2 1/2 hours $145 - 3 to 3 1/2 hours $180. (Options are additional cost and will be included in the total cost of your cycle trail package.)

From 'Tirohia' you have the choice of backtracking and following the map back to base, (Families 31kms) or continue on and complete the loop, once you arrive at Matipiro Road you coast downhill on a gentle grade through this enchanting valley to the village of Fernhill then follow the map via Swamp Road back to base.
